An architect by trade, Lang came to Pure Projects in Vietnam via the French-based compliance company Bureau Veritas. He also worked in the US creating a social network for the architecture community, and worked in a family business back in Vietnam.

Joining Pure in March 2012, Lang loves the vibrant nature of the Vietnamese construction market that ‘changes week by week’.

For Lang, a great day at work either involves the signing of a new contract, or simply a meeting with a happy client. That’s important because Lang sees each job as a part of potential long-term relationship, not just a one off project.

Relationship building is a strength of Lang’s. He’s a good ‘reader’ – of people, of meetings and of projects. Learning fast and making good strategic decisions is a fundamental part of the difference Pure brings to the marketplace. Pure is zealously deadline driven, something Lang says is something of a new concept in Vietnam! Another difference is the systematised approach Pure brings to Project Management. It allows Pure to continually monitor a project and its assets, which brings transparency and in turn, confidence for all parties concerned.

Lang’s personal favourite project was the 77,000 square metre Aeon Tan Phu shopping mall in Celadon City, Vietnam. The task involved Pure helping Aeon to facilitate and lead a team responsible for the delivery of over 120 tenancies.

A specialist in the retail and hospitality sectors, Lang believes that project management is a personal endeavour, not just a job. When you take on a project, you take it on as your own – the way you’d manage your own house. As Lang says, “you have to put your heart around it.”

When not putting his heart around his work he’ll be doing so at home: Lang’s favourite hobby is “hanging out with my family”.
