Don Morris AO BEc DUniv Griff is the former Chair of both Tourism Australia and Tourism Queensland, and a former director of Harvey World Travel, the Tourism & Transport Forum, Port Douglas Reef Resorts, Tourism Asset Holdings and Hamilton Island Enterprises.

 

Don was co-founder of Mojo Advertising creators of famous campaigns such as ‘C’mon Aussie C’mon’ for World Series Cricket, ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ for Qantas and Paul Hogan's iconic ‘Slip an extra shrimp on the Barbie’ for Australian Tourism.

 

In the 2002 Australian Honours, Don was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) for services to tourism.

 

Don brings his decades of client service and tourism experience to the Pure team. He was attracted to them because “Project managers are too often seen as a bunch of boring blokes in suits, the official coordinators of construction logistics. But Pure is very different. There’s also a palpable sense of pride in the outcome of a project, something to which Don brings his hard-bitten tourism perspective.

Clients love them because Pure understands project management is a lateral, creative service business, not solely a linear, functional activity.”

 

Currently Don is a director of ASX listed Ardent Leisure, Chair of the business advisory Tourism Think Tank, Chair of Griffith University’s Institute for Tourism (GIFT) where he is also Adjunct Professor of Tourism and a Doctor of the University.

 

Don does some serious project management of his own: as an accomplished, award winning landscape gardener.
